411 : Commisssion Information 

Hey-ho all! This section here is just a bit of info about my commissions. Believe it or not, I have never been commissioned before, and would love to do one. So, just check out below, and enjoy.

What are Commissions?
  Commissions are pic requests in which you pay money to get the original drawing.

What are your policies on commissioning you?

• The way my commissions will work is this: you email me, asking for an original pic. I send you a confirmation email, telling you the final (Canadian) cost of the pic (final cost will include a 10% commission fee used to support my art supply need, and half of the shipping and handling), and I will draw the pic for you. You can request to view a scanned copy of the pic in its stages prior to me adding the finishing touches. Once I have finished the pic, I will send you a scanned copy to prove to you that I have finished it. It is then up to YOU to send me your address, I will send you mine, and YOU must send me the money BEFORE I send you the art. If, in thirty days from your final email to me (2 months for oversea countries), I do not recieve money, I will simply scan it and post it on my page as an incomplete commission. You will be credited, but you won't get the original. Simple as that.
• ALL COMMISSIONS ARE PRIORITY. Because people are paying for them (and because I need the money badly...), all commissioned images will be put on a priority list. I usually work on 4 or 5 pics at a time, so requests and exchanges will be done between working on Commissions.
• If, at anytime and for any reason, you find you cannot pay for the original image while I have already completed or am in the middle of completing it, do not hesitate to tell me and I will simply regard your pic as a request instead. I won't be mad. I promise.
• I have limits to what I will and will not draw. Please refer to the Picture Request Information page if you have a question.
• Any more than 4 characters per image will cost you extra, because of the amount of work that has to go into it.
• NO DESCRIPTIONS-ONLY PLEASE. I want the pic to be the best it can be and the only way I can do this is if I have a reference pic.
• There may be a Waiting List, however, commissions are always priority. Check out this page for more information.

What do you charge for commissions?
  Previously, I had a really complicated and super-organized pricelist that I may someday go by, but since I am trying to GET people to buy my art, I figure I better start with a basic pricelist. Below is a listing which I believe, through some research, are the most common types of artwork people request. If you would like to commission something other than the ones listed below, don't hesitate to make me an offer, so long as it is reasonable (I will not do a 20" x 20" drawing for $2.00. You're dreaming then).

  PLEASE NOTE that because this is a Canadian website, ALL PRICES ARE IN CANADIAN DOLLARS unless otherwise stated.

 If you'd like to commission a pic, or if you'd like to know if I will draw something that I have somehow failed to mention on the Request Info Page, please send an email to rat_lightshadow@hotmail.com with your reference pic as an attachment.

   These appear to be the most common images for sale right now, so this is all I have. Again, do NOT hesitate to ask for something other than the above. Below I have listed the paper types I currently own or can get at a discounted price simply because I need it for my course, and they give me a student discount :) I have put down a BASE price next to the paper type, meaning this is the cost FOR THE PAPER and will not take an offer any less than that listed next to it.
   Also, please note that I will also do other media, but my strongest is pencil crayons, so if you want "quality", you're better off with my pencil work. :)

  • 14" x 17" white acid-free bond ($4.00)
  • Cardstock, up to 12" x 12" ($5.00)
  • Bainbridge Illustration Board, #172 [smooth surface, up to 15" x 15"] ($6.00)
  • Bainbridge Illustration Board, #80 [rough surface, up to 15" x 15"] ($6.00)
  • Canvas BOARD [the kind from WalMart...] (negotiable)
  • Canvas paper/cloth (negotiable)

What do you charge for shipping?
  Shipping costs will vary, depending upon location and type of post you are looking for. All items are sent via my "friendly" neighbourhood Canada Post. I only know the rough estimates of Canadian shipping prices, so they probably won't change. As soon as I nick a pricelist from Canada Post, I'll let y'all know for sure.

   If you'd rather know the exact price of shipping prior to sending me the money, I will be more than happy to have the Post office check it for me. Wee.

Are there any additional costs I should know about?
  Yes. I charge a 10% commission fee of the subtotal on my artwork.

What??? Why? Where does it go to?
  Because I need the money for school, supplies, and any hidden shipping costs I didn't anticipate.

Do you have any special deals or offers?
  Yes. Please see below:

• Free Shipping to Canadian Residents - on purchases of $30.00 or more to any Canadian destination. This is for 8½" x 11" pieces ONLY.
• Free Shipping to American Residents - on purchases of $35.00 or more to any American destination. This is for 8½" x 11" pieces ONLY.
• Free Shipping to International Residents - on purchases of $40.00 or more to any International destination. This is for 8½" x 11" pieces ONLY.
• Free 8½" x 11" Black and White Drawing - on purchases of $50.00 or more.
• Free 8½" x 11" Black and White Drawing, and free 8½" x 11" Colour Image - on purchases of $55.00 or more.

What methods of payment do you take?
  The preferable methods are cheques and international money orders. I do take Paypal, if that's what you prefer, though I don't, since it's too much hassle for me to withdraw money from it. NO CASH PLEASE!!! PLEASE SEND ALL FUNDS IN CANADIAN DOLLARS.

So, how can I commission you then?
  Send an email to me at rat_lightshadow@hotmail.com and give me a quick note on what you want drawn. I will then send you a rough quote on the total cost, and you can then decide if you'd still like to commission me. Please send me a reference pic or a link to a reference pic, as it makes my life a WHOLE lot easier. :)
